Our Weekend ♥

January 18, 2011

Friday:
  • As soon as J got home from work he began caulking and sanding all the boards on the nursery walls to get them ready for their final coat of white paint!  While he was doing nursery work I was cleaning the house...I'm one of those rare people who enjoys cleaning.  I really do...I just turn up the music and get going.  (Funny fact:  when I was younger I would clean my brother's cars for them just because.  That's how much I like to clean)
  • Ate a quick dinner and went to my brothers.  He heated up the pool and we went swimming! (My sister in law invited over the preggers friends FUN FUN!)  Hot jets of water pushing out on my pregnant back felt good.  Don't worry...when you heat a pool it doesn't get nearly as hot as a bath tub or hot tub.  It passes the pregnancy hot water test.  We had fun although, my swimsuit top may have made me look like a hooker...oh well.  I don't want to buy a new swimsuit top for my prego chest!  Maybe in a few months but not yet!  (FYI:  you will never find me wearing a maternity swimsuit...NEVER!)

Saturday:
  • Jonathan finished painting the nursery walls!  YES!  Now, we can really get moving in there!  And we had to run some errands.  We went to...
  • Best Buy:  Had a Rewards Zone gift card!
  • Macy's:  Shopping for rugs...they didn't have any.  Only online.  Bought some onsies instead :)
  • Babies R Us:  Getting gift cards by buying a certain amount of diapers...which I paid for with another gift card.  ha!
Here are the onsies.  I don't usually like a lot of Carter's things but these were just too cute.  They are newborn size and TINY!  I think I will have some of them monogrammed and I need to make some newborn leg warmers to go with them just for lounging and napping :)  As of right now they are in her pile of outfits for the hospital...I don't like the hospital onsies.

Here is what the nursery currently looks like:

Sunday:  Church as always and then lunch with my brother and sister in law.

Monday:  That's right people!  I didn't have work yesterday!
  • Worked on a few school things.
  • Bought the curtain rod for the window treatments I already had.
Here is the nursery with curtains.  Aren't they lovely?!  (I also found the light fixture for this room...I just need to go back and buy it because it's on SALE!)

The curtain wall cost me less than 40$ including hardware!!!  Each panel is an XL twin flat sheet.  Also, I don't puddle my curtains (even though I love the look) because my dogs LOVE to lay/lounge in the "puddles" of curtains that touch the floor.  Sigh...and I know I still need to use Downy Wrinkle Releaser on the curtains.  I tried the drier...didn't work.  Neither did the iron.  So, we're moving on to the Wrinkle Releaser.  We use it all the time and it usually works pretty well.
LOVELY WEEKEND!

The nursery looks so good! I love the idea of using the sheet for the curtains. I read in Real Simple the other day to use one as a shower curtain on top of a plastic shower curtain. My hubby and I are huge fans of the wrinkle releaser! I hardly ever iron! :D Aren't 3 day weekends the best?! Lovely!

I love the nursery!! It's really starting to come together!! I, too, am a weirdo that enjoys cleaning! Dusting and vacuuming are my favorite things to do. I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only neat freak who enjoys it! Haha!

So glad you had a good weekend, Emily!
