Fun Friday - October

October 8, 2020

I love doing FUN FRIDAYS with the kids. The first Friday of every month we do a themed movie night. It usually has to do with what holidays are going on in that month. I started doing this when Milam was first born I think to give Georgia some one on one time with me and her dad. We really liked them so here we are...still doing them!

This year, we let Milam join in and instead of sleeping in our room, after movie night they have a slumber party in Milam's room. They really love it.

This year we watched "The Nightmare Before Christmas", which we've all seen before and the kids really love it.   We had THESE snacks, which I think were like cosmic brownies and Jonathan got them THIS popcorn. I also got chocolate milk that I told them was bat juice. I used THIS blanket as a table cloth and THIS garland, which I already had on hand. Mostly, I just used stuff we already had around the house. The cute little plates were from the target dollar spot.

Fun Friday - October 2019

September 19, 2019

Last Friday was

Friday the 13th
a Full Moon
and a Harvest Moon

So, this Fun Friday was a little spooky and a little fall.

I made skull calzones with a salad.  The dressing was in a syringe.  Stole this idea.  You can find the recipe HERE.  My mom brought us some cute cookies so it was just total luck that those showed up.  We watched Hotel Transylvania 3 on the floor in the living room.

Weekend Update

August 19, 2019

This was our first weekend of the school year!

Friday
Georgia got out of school.  We snacked at home for a quick second and then she got dressed and we were off to gymnastics.  I set up our first movie night (Fun Friday!) of this school year and just did a small simple back to school theme.  Just popcorn and cookies and some Hulu movies that revolved around school. Nothing too crazy.  Hopefully I'll remember to do September and October because I know we'll be taking a few months off once Barrett gets here.  My bedroom is like my sanctuary.  The only place I can really have peace and quiet.  Unfortunately my kids see it as their second living room so movie nights are not my favorite event but Georgia loves them.
Oh, and that morning I met up with one of my best friends for a post first week of school decompression time. We brought our little loves too.
Saturday
I shot a wedding from 10:30-4:30.  It was close to home and a really sweet couple but oh goodness my feet were feeling it the next day!  Jonathan did so much around the house while I was gone.  He went to his grandmother's and my mom's and collected a few things for Milam's new room and cooked and cleaned.  I was pretty much dead to the world when I got home.  I ate a lot of strawberries though.
Sunday
Milam and I skipped church.  I've been so bad about that lately.  Milam has a horrible rash and on Sunday morning we weren't quite sure what it was.  Around dinner time we remembered he had been getting into Jonathan's beard balm and we're thinking that may have been the cause. Also, standing or sitting for any period of time was so hard for me after the wedding.  I have got to find more comfortable shoes for working weddings. My lower body was hurting so brother and I just stayed home. These two cuties went off to promotion Sunday without us. Aren't they a sweet duo?!
Later that day we had a little grandparent dinner to celebrate the birthday buddies.  Jonathan's is August 21 and Milam's (as well as my grandfather's who passed away when I was 9) is August 22 so they always celebrate together and I think it's really cute. Sometimes I really enjoy doing a party and going all out but lately I really have been loving small scale. Especially in August because we have so much going on and also because Milam has zero friends besides his sister and our adult neighbor who he's obsessed with (who happens to be one of our close friends)

.JANUARY FUN FRIDAY.

January 31, 2019

I've been working away on my 2019 goals but I haven't yet started saving all of my unsaved blogs so things are still quiet over here.  All that aside I wanted to post about our first Fun Friday of the year.  I did a girly theme and Jonathan was welcome.  Plus, we had HEB's Unicorn ice cream.

Fun Friday

December 12, 2018

Just a few quick holiday treats and a few decorations I hadn't put up elsewhere.  I put this together super quick...not my best work but it got the job done.  We rented Elf and Georgia could not stop laughing.  It was more fun watching her laugh than watching the actual movie.

I borrowed my mom's Christmas china, we had hot chocolate flavored donuts along with hot chocolate.  We baked cookies and had gingerbread cookies too.  I got chocolate bark for myself and it was yummy!

Fun Friday

December 3, 2018

November's Fun Friday was a hot chocolate bar and I don't remember what movie we watched.  We've done Fun Fridays for awhile but I've made them a little more fun and special.  More fun and more stressful for me all at the same time.  Ha.  It's worth it though.

Fun Friday - October Edition

October 12, 2018

I bought THIS garland (I have it in white too but I think it ended up in our Christmas decor) and THESE plates.

We watched Hotel Transylvania 3 and enjoyed all of our Halloween treats.  It was fun!

I picked up popcorn from Back in Time Popcorn and cupcakes from Montgomery Bakehouse which are both local favorites.

Fun Friday - Harry Potter Edition

September 12, 2018

On the first Friday of each month I do "Fun Friday".  All that means is we basically do a fancy movie night with themed snacks.  I wanted something back to school ish so I went with Harry Potter because they go off to school at Hogwarts.  I did a quick Pinterest search to get some ideas for snacks and used decor items we already had.
I pulled the kids table from the breakfast room into the master and put some pillows down as floor cushions to make a small sitting area near our wall mounted TV.
I did Hufflepuff colors (black and yellow) because that's Georgia's "house", make your own wands dip, witches brooms, and make your own potions.  I had room temp Sprite (so the ice would melt faster) and made ice cubes of orange soda and strawberry soda so we could "mix" our own drinks and watch the Sprite magically change colors.
I tossed in some poorly done chalk art, her current Harry Potter read, and her little wood wand her and Jonathan made.
Our next fun Friday is the first Friday of October and we will be doing a fall/halloween theme so be on the look out!
