Back to School Dinner 2019

August 13, 2019

Our annual back to school dinner.  I let the school cafeteria circa 1990 inspire out menu.
Enjoy!

Georgia's At Home Lessons

September 7, 2018

No education is perfect.  No matter where you send your kids to school or if you do it yourself it will never be perfect.  Georgia goes to public school and we really like her school, they seriously kill it with math.  Honestly, if I still homeschooled we would mostly be doing history, geography, and reading...math and science just don't do it for me.  Anyway, I'm trying to emphasize some things (in a super casual way) here at home.

I drew up this little sheet and had some copies made before I filled it out.  I chose some areas that I wanted to focus on and went from there.
Here is a terrible picture of it filled in.  I tried to make the trait, verse, and historical figure all go together.  This was her first sheet so I picked some easy words and an easy verse so get her on board with it.  She's not super excited about it but she doesn't hate it either.
I went through books we already had that touched on the topics I had selected.
Before school started I did another little "dig deeper" session with G.  I told her to pick anything out of any of her books and we would dig a little deeper to see what we could find out.
Milam is also getting in on the fun.  We are doing the colors red and blue, the numbers one and two, and working are drawing circles.

Back to School Photos

August 23, 2016

I took these the first day Jonathan was an Assistant Principal.  I got her all dressed up to go visit her dad at work.  Ugh.  My baby.  She was such a little doll!
Once she started school I began to take "Back to School" pictures as well as pictures on the first day of school
Twos Preschool
 Threes Preschool
 Fours Preschool (Homeschool)
And this year, 2016, as she starts KINDER!

Georgia's Preschool Memories

August 26, 2014

Today is Georgia's first day of school!
(These are last years pictures)

So, I decided to tie up some loose ends before I started posting about this school year.

Look how much my baby grew!  Oh my goodness.  And her hair!  I like it shorter but Jonathan likes it longer.  She even had one BIG hair cut.

Her last day of school was splash day and she had so much fun!

Through out the year I took pictures of her work from school and stored them on my phone app (ArtKive) and plan on ordering that book soon.  The items I really liked I kept in our family binder.  At the end of the year Georgia's teacher gave us a hand print alphabet book the kids had worked on all year and a huge stack of pictures of our child.  So, I cleaned out my family binder (where all her school work had been) and put all Georgia's two year preschool memories in that one binder her teacher gave us and now it's stored away. I have a whole other post on organization coming up :)

The left is the cover of the binder the teachers made.  On the right are her pictures that were on her desk and chair all year, her backpack rack name tag, and the beginning of her alphabet hand prints.

A lot of the pictures they put in sheet protectors in the the back of the binder.

And, my favorite artwork from the year I saved, punched holes in, and put in the last section of the binder.

AND, I've started another binder that I plan on giving Georgia when she graduates from high school.  I have her first day of school picture, last day of school picture, and picture with Georgia and her teacher, as well as a letter I asked her teacher to write to her on the last week on school all on one sheet.  I'm going to do that every year (that she'll let me!), keep them in the binder, and then give them all to her with all the sweet words from her teachers!

Here is the cover sheet I made for it.

Now, onto the three year old class!

Easy Teacher Gift

December 19, 2013

I was a teacher for 5 years and those cute gifts are nice and all (I'm never ungratful and it's the thought that counts) BUT if you're going to go through the trouble and buy all the craft supplies you might as well buy them something they will want or need...something they will actually use.

So, I got Georgia's teachers cute mugs with a Target gift card inside.  Cute and practical.  I would have loved to get this as a gift when I was teaching!

And, don't worry I took the tag off the mug after I took this picture ;)

Easy Toddler Christmas Class Gift (Free Printables)

December 12, 2013

I put together a quick easy gift for Georgia's classmates.  There are six boys and six girls in her class.  I got Georgia the girl gift as well so she wouldn't be dissapointed at the class Christmas party :)  The small buckets are from the Target Dollar Spot and the tape and tissue paper were from Target as well.

The girls got 5$ necklaces from Carter's and the boys got two 1$ match box cars.

I made two printables to go along with them and just taped them to the little buckets.  I made a dinosaur printable first but couldn't find any cute dino toys so I switched to cars.  But, I put all the printables here for you to use if you like :)

Fall Concludes

December 11, 2013

Here's what we've been up to this fall!  I recently put an ad on Facebook and Instagram saying I was available for photography for a very low price...well, wow!  That took over my entire life.  So, I'm slowly getting back into my normal groove with only one more shoot to go :)

We've tried to eat outside as much as possible.

We went to Waco for Thanksgiving to visit Jonathan's sister.  We stopped in Huntsville on the way there to visit the Sam Houston historical park.  Such a cute area!

While in Waco we HAD to drive by the Baylor campus to get some pictures of my future baby Bear!

I love this picture of the cousins watching the parade!

For my side of the family Thanksgiving my mom and her sister did story time with the babies.  It was so sweet and the kiddies loved it :)

We also went to the zoo again with Ethan.  We love the zoo and we LOVE us some Ethan!  They get A LOT of attention when they're together.  And, now that we are buying a house in our dream neighborhood they will go to the same school and be in the same grade.  Hello carpool ;)

Georgia had her thanksgiving program and party.  I had a small treat fail but two year olds don't care right?!

Of course my dear was center stage and did so well.  I was so proud of her!

Mouth full of FOOD!

And of course...watching the parade 3 years in a row!

So long fall!
