28 Weeks!

February 21, 2011

Had to get a close up since the blue flower landed right on the belly!

How far along?  28 weeks (just 12 left...time sure does fly.)

Baby size:  2.25 lbs and 14.8 inches (Chinese cabbage)

Total weight gain/loss:  I'm guessing +7 or 8  (I read that the average person will gain 11 lbs in the 3rd trimester.  If that's true, then I'll be very happy with my over all gain)

Maternity clothes?  A mix.  I'm loving my (non maternity) linen pants these days.  They have an elastic waste band so they are still comfy...oh, and long dresses.  I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing a long flowy dress in my maternity pictures (spring break).

Sleep:  I've been sleeping like a rock.  As in, when I wake up my body is stiff from me not moving all night.  So, that's good :)

Best moment this week:  1)  Georgia moved in direct response to Jonathan's voice several times.  It's pretty funny.  He puts his mouth nearly on my stomach and says very loudly, "kick baby!" and she does.  He's only done it a few times but we think it's pretty cool!  2)  A first grader told me, "Mrs. Powell, every time I see you, you look prettier and prettier!"  And, I thought, "that's nice because every time you see me I get bigger and bigger!"

Movement:  It's become painful this week.  She kicked me so hard during a meeting the other day that it made me say, "ouch!".  Then, a few minutes later I'm pretty sure she bypassed my ribs altogether and went for the lungs...very uncomfortable and actually made me cough.  This is becoming a regular thing.

Food cravings:  Still just the ice water

What I miss:  Nothing big really.  Being able to bend over with ease (do anything with ease) would be nice but overall I don't really mind too much.

What I am looking forward to:  Maternity pictures.  I've been emailing our photographer over the past week with ideas and we're both really excited.  We're actually doing them over 2 days during spring break.  One shoot will be more urban and the other more "woodsy" at sunset.  I'm excited about the 2 day photo shoot.

Milestones:  I'm for sure, according to all sources, in the third trimester now.  I feel like this is FLYING by!  Apparently, she may have eyelashes by now.  Also, this week her survival rate goes up to 95 % and stays at 95% all the way until birth.

Pregnancy Symptoms:  Not really any...besides feeling huge :)  My pregnancy has been a breeze so far.  People have told me once I hit the third trimester I would pretty much be miserable but so far so good.

Stretch Marks:  Not one!

Belly button:  Still a full on innie!

Other pregnancy news:  My boss and I started discussing maternity leave.  This semi stresses me out.  The thought of someone else in my classroom with my things just bothers me.  I'm a very neat and organized person plus teaching art is fun, yes but it can be messy and there is a learning curve to the timing and order of it all.  With that being said the boss and I are on the hunt for someone who has been a teacher before to be my sub.  Because I work at a private school my last day is May 26th...most TX schools don't get out until early June.  My due date is May 16th which is a Monday so my last day for sure is May 13th.  I would like to take off the week before that but our field day is that week and I'm doing yearbook so I really want to be there to get my own pictures so I know they are good quality (control freak...maybe).  We'll just have to wait until I get closer to see how I'm doing...maybe I'll take off but just come in on field day for pics.  But, I only work part time...so I don't think it will be that bad since I'm not on my feet all day.  I pretty much have the most perfect job of all time :)  I have a whole post coming about this soon.

Also, I ordered these 2 shirts from Old Navy.  They are contenders for the maternity shoot...maybe paired with a solid colored flowy skirt?

Another thing...I bought the fabric for Georgia's diaper bag.  I'm obsessed!  The fabric is being used for (from left to right) exterior of bag, inside of bag, and the handles.  Isn't it SO cute!  I bought all the fabric at Joann's.  If you're a teacher you can sign up online (at the very bottom of the website) for a teacher discount card for 15% off of each purchase.  And, when you initially sign up they send you a coupon for 20% off.  (although it takes a few weeks for them to email it to you).

And...Georgia's diaper bag that Jonathan will use came in.  He loves it.

And, lastly my sister in law gave me TWO garbage bags FULL of baby clothes (mind you she has already given me all the 0-6 months clothes...this is all 6-12 clothes).  My niece, Molly Kathryn, was born last April and G is due this May so they will be almost exactly a year apart so their sizes will match up with all the seasons!  I love it when my sister in law cleans out MK's closet.

You look great, love the dress. If only it wasn't super cold winter here, then I could rock a dress. Maybe next time.

Thanks for visiting! You are an adorable pregnant woman! Teaching art sounds so fun I loved art class as a kid and even my freshmen year of high school I passed out during art class and still went back all semester ;)

You are so cute. I HEART pregnant women. Of course, I was a horrible prego and didn't necessarily love it but now when I see a pregnant woman I kind of get nostalgic.
