This is a 100% true story.
I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep. I had all the lights turned off and was about to drift off when Georgia started to cough again. Jonathan was brushing his teeth with the bathroom door shut so I knew he didn't hear her so I went ahead and got up to get her some Benadryl and homeopathic cough medicine and went into her bedroom. I gave her the medicine and rocked her for a few seconds and placed her back in her crib still asleep.
I walked into the kitchen and put the empty syringes in the sink and then walked to the bedroom door. The entire house was dark and the bedroom was dark too, just how I left it.
Within seconds of stepping inside our bedroom door I was rushed at, slammed up against the wall, hand on my throat, feet stepped on...
Then, I hear a very panicked confused voice say, "oh my god. it's you. oh my god. oh my god."
Yes, my husband had mistaken me for a burglar! Are you kidding me?!
At the time I was furious but now we can't stop laughing about it! I sleep with a large feather pillow next to me and since the pillow was in place and the lights were already off Jonathan assumed I was already in bed and asleep. He usually kisses me goodnight but again, he thought I was asleep and tried not to wake me. He had no idea I was actually in Georgia's room. Oh goodness...
So, when the door opened he attacked the intruder (me). Actually, he didn't even hurt me because he realized as soon as he touched me who I was even though he still couldn't see me. I just stood there in shock, nearly cried, Jonathan close to a heart attack...we just got back in bed in silence and went to sleep.
The next morning I kept making little jabs at him about being attacked. He still didn't think it was funny just yet and later told me I should feel good about his quick reflexes if an intruder were to break in. (Great way to look at it Jonathan!?)
So yeah, quite the interesting night at our house...

ha!! Well I guess you know he'll protect you if someone ever DOES break in ;)
OMG! I am not sure how to react to this post... glad everything is okay!
I can't stop giggling! Sorry for you, but I do bet now that it's all over you have got to think it's pretty funny, too.
Sounds like something my husband would do. :)
Haha, oh my gosh! I think if that happened to me I would have a heart attack! Jonathan's right though, it's good to have a hubby with quick reflexes in case you were a real intruder! Haha!
This is so funny to me, probably because it didn't happen to me. At least he's got good reflexes and will protect you. :P
That's funny. I'm so glad it was not a burglar but Im so glad to hear that your husband reacted like that. I mean, I'm sorry you had to be at the end of his reaction but at least you know that he will protect ya'll if, god forbid a burglar does end up at your house.
Haha that is funny. Although I'm sure not at the time. Glad everything turned out to be ok and you didn't actually have an intruder!
Oh no, I bet he feels so bad. You had me so freaked out when I started reading this. Glad he didn't try to knock the intruder out---:)
Ok this story may not have been funny then but it is now! And I agree, at least he's quick to react!
ahahhaaa, oh my gosh! at least he's got some serious kung-fu skills going on, that he'll hopefully never have to really use! xoxo
That is scary but you deserve a treat now! Goodness, that gives me a heart attack just reading your post.
I just died. Oh my goodness. Ohhhh my goodness. You can't let him live this down. But gosh, I'm impressed by his skills!
Seriously snorted. Awesome story.
Too hilarious!!!
Based on the title, I thought that an intruder had attacked you! Then I read that it was Jonathan and laughed pretty hard.
I thought the same thing as Shaun! That is a pretty funny story!
