Oh my, this has been a week. I've yelled, almost cried, and have just been overall frustrated with life. Mainly the school life that has been forced upon us and since I DO NOT have a teaching spirit I'm all the more frustrated. Yes, I used to be an art teacher. No, teaching your kids 4th grade math is not the same as teaching other people's kids color theory. Add in surgery, hurricanes, and rolling black outs and its been a doozy! All of that to say it's been a week. But everyday is a new day to try again and try harder.

Y'all. I finally found our couch online! I have had dozens of requests as to where we got it! The link is HERE but it says it is discontinued. I ordered it a few months ago so you may still be able to purchase floor models. Just ask your local store about it! We love it so much. I cannot believe how much we've been missing by NOT having a sectional. All of us are very much enjoying all the extra space! A favorite.

My little baby bear had to have surgery at Texas Childrens to repair his hernia. And praise the Lord, he did SO GREAT. I had to wake him up at 5:40 am when he normally sleeps to 7:30 or later and he couldn't eat or drink. He fell asleep in the car and then fell asleep in pre op and never even cried when they took him back. Recovery hasn't been a breeze but it certainly hasn't been bad and he's doing such a great job with the pain. He's a dreamboat. I love him. Totally obsessed. For sure a favorite.

A huge favorite is that Houston dodged a GIANT hurricane. It was supposed to make landfall fairly close to Houston (only 30 minutes south of us) but it went east. I know that is horrible for so many and it's selfish but for now our area was spared of another disaster. An added bonus, to reduce traffic for evacuees our school was cancelled so Georgia had no online assignments and Jonathan was home as well. I'm so ready for the fall. I need some normal in my life. Preferably mask free. I could also use less heat. Our power was out for about 10 hours due to lines down at the Texas Louisiana border and it was 102 yesterday. We ended up staying at Jonathan's parents for the night. Too hot for us.

We were not actually home when the power went out but the destination we had in mind also had no power since the power company had turned it off for the entire county. Georgia said, "donuts sound good" so we drove into Houston to hit up Voodoo donuts. We enjoyed our donuts and found some mural walls and enjoyed our car AC. After we got home and assessed the power situation, that's when we headed to Jonathan's parents. AC is my favorite. 102 degree weather is NOT my favorite.

Y'all. This picture. My whole heart. 😭
Georgia, so proud of those new shoes 😂 (similar HERE)

Here's to the weekend, y'all!
