It is well...

November 17, 2010

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,

When sorrows like sea billows roll;

Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,

It is well, it is well, with my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!

My sin, not in part but the whole,

Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Sometimes you have a day so so terrible that you can't put it into words.  That was my day today.  Even though life threw Jonathan and I a HUGE curve ball today I am so thankful for my wonderfully positive husband, a mom who I can call and all I have to say is, "mom..." and she instantly knows my mood, and for the amazing blessing of having a baby growing inside me.

So sorry Emily. Days like the one you described are the days that I have found I am the closest to my Savior. Saying a prayer for you! Hoping all continues to be well in your soul through the peace and grace of Jesus! Thank you for the sweet reminder to rely on Him!

ok. so that is one of my favorite hymns as well. (and you know how i love hymns....) i have a book that tells the story behind hymns, their authors, etc.
the man who wrote this one's wife and 4 children were on a ship from the u.s. to europe. the ship sank and only his wife survived. she sent him a telegram that said something like "saved alone." when he traveled to meet her in europe, he wrote this song as he passed where their ship went down.
kinda makes a bad day not seem so bad.....
praying for y'all. love you.
