Wednesday Lovin'

What I'm Loving Wednesday {link up here}

1.
Grocery Bill / HEB
Jonathan and I have pretty much tried it all when it comes to lowering the grocery bill.  Not that ours is ever high (there's only two of us for now) but it's just been kind of a game to us...how low can we get it.  We go shopping once a week, every weekend, and we've always gone to Wal*Mart since we moved into this house because it's the closets and it's pretty cheap.  Well, one weekend Sam's (we don't have a Costco anywhere near us) was doing a trial so we decided we would go.  You pay more but it last longer so we were up for giving it a try.  First, I went to Wal*Mart and priced everything we usually buy by the ounce/pound.  Then, we went to Sam's with our list and were surprised when only a hand full of things were cheaper...not worth it for us because once we pay the membership it wouldn't save us any money.  Then, we tried the whole Kroger coupon thing but that didn't really work for us either.  Jonathan and I buy a lot of fresh produce (usually no coupons), organic items (usually no coupons), we are brand specific on many things and if we don't have a particular brand we like we usually get the store brand.  So, Kroger actually cost us more than Wal*Mart.  Then we thought we would try HEB (we love HEB but the closest one to us wasn't actually close at all but it's right by where we take our recycling so we figured we would combine the trips.)  We were amazed at how much we saved without even trying.  HEB has coupons on every aisle and we only use the ones that apply to us.  I don't use coupons just to use them.  Every week we are at least 20-30 dollars below our grocery budget!  So, it's HEB for us!

2.
Jonathan
He wrote me an email the other morning saying he felt he needed to deep clean the kitchen.  Fine by me...he's great, I know :)

3.
My students
Here is the pile of flowers / rocks that is growing on my desk.  You never know what Pre-K is going to bring you, hence the rock.  The flowers are from the other grades I teach.  They're all so sweet.  Also, a pre-k 3 student pointed at my belly yesterday and said, "what's in there?"  hahaha!

4.
Short work week
Since we had off Monday I now only have 2 days until the weekend!!!

5.
The weather
Even though it's cloudy and over cast it is still warm.  I'm just loving it.  It's so much easier to get dressed now!

6.
Blog Award
My super nice bloggy friend (and fellow Baylor grad), Maggie gave me a blog award!  You should all go check out her blog!  It's really cute and she has the most precious little baby boy!

First I nominate 7 people:
{I've decided to nominate 7 of my newest followers!}

Then, I have to tell you 7 things about myself:
1.  Jonathan made fun of me last night because I ironed my hospital PJ's and hung them up so they wouldn't get wrinkled before I officially start packing.  Don't leave me comments telling me I'm ridiculous...I don't care.
2.  I've never dyed my hair.  My hair is 100% chemical free.  (I just asked my husband to tell me a random fact about myself and this is the first thing he came up with...strange.)
3.  I'm calling today to make our appointment for the 3D ultrasound.  I'm pretty excited to see Georgia's sweet little face in a few weeks.
4.  I usually spend a good 20 - 30 minutes in the morning just watching Georgia kick and move around.  Then, I spend another 30 minutes watching her move when I get home...honestly, I could sit and watch it all day.  It amazes me.
5.  I would totally drive a Fiat 500 despite what my mom thinks :)  They are just so darn cute!
6.  I REALLY want to go to Switzerland.  Like, really bad!  It's on our top 5 list for sure.
7.  And, most interesting of all I'm sure...I LOVE baking soda toothpaste!  It's the best and makes your mouth feel so clean.  Pretty much nothing compares to it!

I so understand the grocery thing....we usually go to Kroger and sometimes CVS because you get dollars back to spend in the future. I love to cut coupons and see how much I can save....however, I could never be like the people on the TV show!! Redic :)

Shopping inexpensively at the grocery store is a science unto itself! Couponing is hard because we never eat what they have coupons for and it's hard to keep track of what's cheapest where and when! Wish I was better at it!

Do post the 3D picture when it comes! so exciting! :]

Thanks for the award! I'll pass it on soon!

The gifts from your preschoolers are adorable. I have a little Christmas ornament from a student I taught about ten years ago, and every year I put it on the tree and my husband tries to move it to the back because it's so homely looking :). I love it anyway.

I wish we had a HEB near us. We have a Central Market but things are more expensive there. And I think its ok to iron your pjs - i would do it so you aren't ridiculous =)

So much is a normal grocery bill via weekly for you and your hubby?

My Mister and I do the SAME LOL we get all our Fruits from Costco then do the rest of the shopping at wal mart and sometimes Frys (like Krogers it's owned by Krogers) and A place called Sprouts (think Trader Joe)
