My Two Year Old!

May 17, 2013

My Sweet Georgia,

I cannot believe I have now been on this parenting journey with you for two whole years.  My heart swells when I think of you, my face lights up when I see you, and my throat tightens when I try to explain how much I love you.

Since the moment I found out you were going to be born I loved you, the first time I saw your face when they laid you on my chest I loved you, but the love I felt for you then (and the total fear I had that I would mess you up!) is nothing compared to what I feel about you now.  Our first seven weeks were such a struggle, I didn't ease into parenting with any sort of grace like your Daddy did, (it took me a few months to gain confidence in myself as a parent) I still lose my patients with you more often than I should but oh my, you are such a sweet, sweet girl!  Most of the time, about most things, you are so laid back.  Just like your Daddy.  I will say with all honesty you didn't get that from me.  When I get frustrated just know it is almost always me!  Not you.  Being a momma is hard, hard work but doing it all for you is more than worth it.  You have my whole heart sweet P.

I always want you to know that I love you.  Just get used to being smothered with kisses, suffocated with hugs, and publicly embarrassed with affection.  It won't ever stop.  I have no idea what your Dad and I did before you.  You just fit so perfectly.  And, I don't know how we were so blessed with the easiest toddler that ever lived.  You're the one who loves to sleep, doesn't fight me on most things, eats like a horse, isn't picky at all.  You amaze me everyday and by no means are you perfect (like your recent obsession with the word "stupid" and "leotarded" and your time outs are slowly increasing) but I couldn't ask for more from you.  You make me happy every.single.day.

Your schedule is still the same as always.  You nap at 12:30 and bedtime is 7:30.  You are still sleeping and eating very well this month.  No complaints here from your momma!

For the first time you refused to sleep in a pack and play at my brother's house.  We found you 45 minutes later out of the pack and play and dancing in the guest room (you were in the closet in the pack and play when your dad left you).  You just cried when I got you and kept saying, "Georgia tired.  Go home.  Go home in a minute."  So yes, you are a very good sleeper but you really like sleeping in your bed.  And, if that's your only sleep issue I'll count myself lucky!  I honestly can't remember the last time you had a sleep issue.  (Knock on wood!)  I so love sleeping in my bed as well and when I'm not in it I just don't sleep well and sometimes I don't sleep at all.

Everything green on your plate usually gets eaten first.  Lettuce, spinach, avocado, cucumbers, broccoli, and green beans are just a few favorites!  You are such a fantastic little eater and I love that about you.  Totally got that from your daddy!

Everything has improved this month!  You used to skip 3 when you counted but now you don't.  You sing nearly the whole alphabet by yourself.  If asked when your birthday is you say, "May seventeen".  Such a smart girl!  Potty training is still coming along.  You learn something new each week at gymnastics.  You like to sing, "Jesus Love the Little Children" and "B-i-b-l-e".  So sweet to hear you singing.

You've started saying (some before this month), right there, over there, this/that way, another one, and do it again.  Just funny little phrases momma and daddy say at home.  You repeat and catch on to nearly everything we say.  You oddly talk about coupons all the time and how they are made out of paper and no one can figure out where that came from!

You wear a 7.5 shoe. (Your left foot is bigger than your right)  Most of you clothes are 2-3T.  I'm pretty much only buying 3T now though but your 2Ts still fit.  I have you in size 6 diapers but you can still wear 5s.  It just takes so long to go through a pack now (with potty training) that last time I bought them I went up a size just incase the 5s got too small.  I'm not sure how much you weight (your appt is on the 20th) but it's close to 30+ pounds.  I have no clue on your height.  I will add it all later.  Conversations with strangers tend to go like this, "How old is she?"  When I respond with "almost two" people instantly say, "wow!  she's so tall for her age!"  And of course people always comment on your pretty blue eyes and your light blonde hair.

I talked a lot about your colors, numbers, shapes, and letters last month.  You've got most of those down!  On your map skills we've added Georgia, Montana, Louisiana, West Virginia, Canada, and Mexico (in addition to Washington, California, Hawaii, Alaska, Texas, Florida, Maine, and the compass).  Oh, and you discovered your birthmark on the back of your left ankle just a few days ago.  You kept pointing to it and saying, "wassss that?"  Oh, and you know a few pairs of opposites like, big and little, our and it, up and down.  It's funny to hear you say, "opposites".

You learn new things every day and make us so proud!
